My card for the day is the High Priestess, gatekeeper to the subconscious, of intuition, and all of the knowledge we share as humans. In this deck, the Modern Witch Tarot, she holds a laptop, symbolic of her access to all of the knowledge we hold within us.There is quite a bit of symbolism packed into this card. The black and white pillars, representing duality, dark and light, feminine and masculine, and right and wrong. Notice what hangs between the pillars: a curtain or veil embroidered with pomegranates.
Pomegranates and the High Priestess
Due to the many seeds they contain, pomegranates symbolize life and fertility, but also blood and death. The goddess Persephone ate six pomegranate seeds, one for each of the six months of the year she stays in the underworld. The fruit also represents power, as its shape is reminiscent of imperial orbs.
Pomegranates are a good analog for the subconscious mind. The thick, rough outer shell hides hundreds of seeds of inspiration. Used as the pattern on the veil separating the conscious mind from the subconscious, the pomegranate reminds us that true creativity and knowledge are hidden within us.
Be Guided by Intuition
This card today is meant to reassure me that I’m still on the right path. Doubts cropped up lately, leading me to wonder if I’m on the right path. My intuition tells me patience and consistency are needed, so the High Priestess is reminding me to trust my intuition and trust in the process.
What Clients are Saying about Sophrosyne Tarot
I was advised to ask open-ended questions instead of predictive questions which I thought was helpful because I never would have known if it weren’t for the reader. The reader provided the reading along with some advice too so the entire reading was very thorough and explained in an understandable manner.
Everything said was accurate and helpful for me to identify my flaws in order to grow as a person. I have learned a lot about tarot and what it does to help me.
