Tarot is an excellent tool for evaluating options and making decisions. Let’s look at how Tarot can help your decision-making process.
Identifying Your Options
Clients who are having trouble making a decision often come to me with a few options they believe they have. Perhaps it is a choice between two job offers, or leaving vs. staying in a relationship. Most of the time they haven’t taken the time to look at all of the options out there for them.
Spreads that identify the options available are powerful; they open up the client’s mind to possibilities they couldn’t see because they were so focused on just two, usually yes/no or stay/go options.
Sometimes, just by seeing the options available will allow a decision to made! I’ve even seen where clients decided the decision wasn’t even necessary anymore; they could move forward with an alternative plan.
Narrowing Down Your Options
However, having too many options can be overwhelming. Tarot isn’t usually needed for someone to rule out some options. For example, if moving to another city to look for a job is impossible because you have family obligations, you can rule that option out.
Once you have 2-3 options, Tarot can help by doing a Pro-Con-Path spread for each option. Each option gets one card that helps you understand the positive aspects of this decision. The Con card illustrates the obstacles you might face, and the Path position suggests how this option will work out for you in the future.
Understanding What is Important to You
Sometimes, especially in relationship readings, the real root problem isn’t really “should I stay with X or leave with Y”. It will be far more beneficial to understand what is going on inside you, behind the scenes. What is missing in your life that you feel a new relationship will satisfy?
While I often do Pro-Con-Path readings for relationship choices, most often the result is no clear-cut winner. Perhaps neither is a good relationship match. More likely is that the client will bring the same issues into the new relationship instead of addressing them directly.
Don’t Limit Yourself to the Obvious Options
My job as a Tarot Advisor is to help my clients decide when they need to drill down into something and when they need to look at the bigger picture. Sometimes asking a question like “How can I manifest the best [relationship, career] for me?” will provide the information necessary to use as a rule against a current situation.
If your best relationship highlights deep, honest communication and you can’t see your way to that with your current partner, your only options are to accept this unsatisfactory relationship or to leave, making space for a better one.
