The last few days I’ve taken a break because I’ve come up dry for writing. Now, at the start of what is a holiday week in the U.S., the cards are all about the suit of Wands.
The Suit of Wands
Wands represent the element of fire. Passion is one keyword for this suit and you can see it play out in all its aspects throughout the suit. Love, hate, inspiration, victory, loss, and destruction, all show the various ways fire appears in our lives.
Page of Wands as a Beginning
The first card in today’s spread is the Page of Wands. Pages are about exploration, learning, and apprenticeship, so the Page of Wands suggests starting out on a new project or scheme. Although not everything about this new venture is known and the Page is not even completely dressed, they still stake their claim and are fired up to get going.
The Three of Wands as Patience
A new idea is like opening a flatpack from Ikea; inspired by the final product you pick out the style and color, excited to get it home. Once at home you pull everything out and realize there are twenty-five steps to complete before you can see your new bookcase.
The Three of Wands counsels patience. Time is needed for what you want to manifest. To further my Ikea analogy, you need to put everything in order, understand the process, and follow the steps before that new bookcase can hold your books. Be patient and follow the course you’ve set (or that has been set for you).
The Nine of Wands as Perseverance
Finally, we have the Nine of Wands which represents patience, courage, and never giving up. At times, life plays out on battlefields of family, customs, and expectations. This card tells us to keep going because the end is near. If you need to take a little time to bind your wounds and rest, take it, but this is just a respite, not a full retreat.
What This Spread of Wands Means to Me
The Thanksgiving holiday can be quite stressful for people when they get together with their families. Holidays with my family are pretty fraught and my automatic mindset is just to survive the day. We have an uncongenial mixture of evangelical Christians, anti-vax COVID deniers, pagans, atheists, and science believers. Navigating these treacherous waters means watching what you say, being patient, and ignoring a lot.
This spread tells me to plant myself, watch my boundaries, and be patient. Our get-together runs about six hours, so the spread suggests taking breaks, removing myself to rest, center, and fortify for what comes next. Above all, the spread encourages taking a back seat. Relax, observe, and remove myself from the throng when needed. Luckily we’ll have my dog as an excuse to go outside for breaks.
How does this spread speak to you for Thanksgiving week? What calls to you in this spread? Let me know in the comments!
What Clients are Saying about Sophrosyne Tarot
I was advised to ask open-ended questions instead of predictive questions which I thought was helpful because I never would have known if it weren’t for the reader. The reader provided the reading along with some advice too so the entire reading was very thorough and explained in an understandable manner.
Everything said was accurate and helpful for me to identify my flaws in order to grow as a person. I have learned a lot about tarot and what it does to help me.
