I’ve been thinking a lot about imperfection lately. Two weeks ago I finished a knitted lap blanket for a friend. I’d tried very hard to make it “perfect”, but when I took a photo I immediately saw the imperfections. My husband didn’t know what I was talking about. The friend who received it said she loved it and it was perfect. Can you see it?
I’m now working on another lap blanket in a different style and the first two rows have a lot of errors. By the third, I got the hang of it, but in my eyes, it was still imperfect. Tempted to start over, I stopped myself. What is this focus on perfection? Where is it coming from?
Imperfection
Imperfection is evident in everything we do. For example, when we speak, we stumble over our words or forget what we were going to say. When we write, we may make spelling or grammatical errors. When we work on a project, we encounter obstacles or setbacks. These imperfections are a natural part of the process, and they are what make our work and our lives interesting.
It is essential to embrace imperfection. By trying to be perfect, we set ourselves up for disappointment and failure. Paralyzed by the fear of making mistakes we miss out on opportunities to grow and learn. By accepting our imperfections, we approach life with a sense of curiosity and openness, and we can learn from our mistakes.
How Can I Deal with Imperfection This Week?
I decided to focus my week ahead Tarot reading on imperfection: “How can we deal with imperfections in our lives this week? I drew the Ace of Pentacles, the High Priestess, and the Sun. What do these cards tell us about dealing with imperfection?
The Ace of Pentacles – Put Imperfections in Context
The Ace of Pentacles represents new beginnings, material success, and abundance. It is associated with opportunities, investments, and the potential for financial stability. It suggests that the key to dealing with imperfection in your life this week is to focus on the tangible aspects of your life. Instead of focusing on the imperfection of your life, ask yourself what is going well. This card encourages us all to seek out the good and “perfect” as well as the imperfect. Put those imperfections in perspective – they aren’t the whole story!
The High Priestess – Look Within
The High Priestess represents intuition, inner knowledge, and spiritual wisdom. It tells you to trust your instincts and listen to your inner voice in order to navigate the imperfections in your life this week. The High Priestess is a reminder that sometimes the answers we seek cannot be found through external sources, but rather by looking within ourselves. You may need to take some time for introspection and reflection in order to gain a deeper understanding of why you feel something is imperfect. What subconscious trigger is being pulled by noticing the imperfections in your creation instead of its overall beauty?
The Sun
Finally, the Sun represents joy, vitality, and success. It is a card of positivity and optimism and suggests that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Light Seer’s Tarot

What Clients are Saying about Sophrosyne Tarot
I was advised to ask open-ended questions instead of predictive questions which I thought was helpful because I never would have known if it weren’t for the reader. The reader provided the reading along with some advice too so the entire reading was very thorough and explained in an understandable manner.
Everything said was accurate and helpful for me to identify my flaws in order to grow as a person. I have learned a lot about tarot and what it does to help me.
