Today we are looking at improving our lives by using Tarot with Interstitial Journaling.
We frequently run against obstacles that prevent us from moving forward in our efforts to improve ourselves. It’s critical to identify powerful tools that can assist us in overcoming these challenges, whether they are related to a lack of motivation, perplexity, or a sense of being stuck. Here we will examine interstitial journaling, a transformative activity that combines well with Tarot. Combining these two effective strategies will help you become more accountable, get new perspectives, and get closer to your objectives.
Understanding Interstitial Journaling: A Path to Reflection and Growth
Interstitial journaling is the process of focusing on oneself throughout the day at regular times. It entails writing succinct journal entries that document your feelings, experiences, and thoughts during “gaps” or transitional times in your daily schedule. These pauses could occur during activity changes, while waiting, or even during brief breaks.
By consciously integrating interstitial journaling into your routine, you create opportunities for self-awareness and self-assessment. This practice enables you to identify patterns, strengths, and areas that require improvement, ultimately fostering personal growth. It also requires you to be in the moment, to be aware of what you are doing.
My personal method of interstitial journaling begins by opening a new note in Evernote, my preferred notetaking app. You can open a new text document or use a regular notebook. What you use is less important than making sure the method you use is easy to get to at any moment during the day. I keep my note open on my desktop all day, ready for updates. To the right you can see what I’ve done so far today.
When I finish a task (or a group of tasks) I briefly jot down the current time, what I did, and what I intend to do next. As you can see from my journal page, I’m not writing much, just the highlights. I also include information I might forget, such as the reason I couldn’t complete a task.
Interstitial Journaling and Tarot in Combination: Promoting Accountability and Progress
Since you taking time to write down what you just did, you can evaluate your current state. Are you confused, not sure what the next step is? Perhaps you’re frustrated because you don’t have what you need to complete an urgent task. Maybe you feel bored or burned out. Time to draw a card from your Tarot deck!
By drawing a Tarot card and thinking about its meaning, you change the energy you are currently experiencing. You can decide whether to follow the direction the card suggests or deviate from it and take a different course of action. For instance, I would examine my work and come up with something novel and distinctive to accomplish if I had drawn the Four of Cups today, which stands for dissatisfaction with the present situation. Or I can opt to push through the tedious tasks in order to get them out of the way.
By doing this on a consistent basis you learn to trust your own intuition and also obtain a deeper insight into who you are and what you want in life. Keep track of any repeating themes, feelings, or difficulties that appear in your tarot readings and journal notes. These patterns offer insightful information and might direct your attention to the activities you must take to achieve your objectives.
Accountability Through Interstitial Journaling and Tarot
Your journal becomes a record of your progress both on a daily, even hourly basis as well as on the macro scale. To keep track of the steps you’ve made, the lessons you’ve learned, and the growth you’ve accomplished, frequently review your tarot readings and diary notes. You can even add to them at a later day, maybe noting what subsequently occurred, or linking notes. (How to add note-to-note links in Evernote)
In moments of frustration, doubt, or difficulty, interstitial journaling combined with tarot can serve as a source of motivation and encouragement. After a while, drawing a card and asking for guidance on what to do next or how to overcome obstacles will become second nature. Pro Tip: I keep my tarot cards unboxed within arm’s reach at my desk. Pulling card is quick and easy.
Nurturing Accountability and Goal Achievement
Tarot and intermittent journaling encourage a sense of personal accountability. You become more conscious of your actions and the bearing they have on your personal life path when you constantly examine your thoughts, feelings, and progress toward your goals. Own up to your decisions and resolve to change for the better.
Use the entries in your interstitial journal to hold yourself responsible. To determine if your activities are in line with your aims, occasionally review your reflections and tarot readings. Celebrate your accomplishments and identify areas for development while making necessary modifications.
Course Correction and Adaptation
As you navigate your path toward your goals, it’s natural to encounter detours or unforeseen challenges. Interstitial journaling and tarot offer the tools to course-correct and adapt. When faced with obstacles, draw a card to gain fresh perspectives and guidance. Use these insights to pivot, refine your approach, and stay focused on your desired outcomes.
One of my biggest problems is getting hyper-focused on something that, in the long run, doesn’t matter. While adding an entry I will note this, along with any feelings. For example, I went down the rabbit hole after reading an article on Medium. One click led to another and before I knew it, an hour passed. I wrote down what I did with the comment “This was a waste of time, but it was interesting. I should have just added the first article to Instapaper and moved on.” Looking back now, I realize that I need to be stricter with myself about adding articles to my read later app and scheduling time to do the reading in the evenings when I’m not working.

What Clients are Saying about Sophrosyne Tarot
I was advised to ask open-ended questions instead of predictive questions which I thought was helpful because I never would have known if it weren’t for the reader. The reader provided the reading along with some advice too so the entire reading was very thorough and explained in an understandable manner.
Everything said was accurate and helpful for me to identify my flaws in order to grow as a person. I have learned a lot about tarot and what it does to help me.
