We all have a bad day when nothing seems to go right. We sleep through our alarm, spill coffee on our favorite shirt, and face traffic determined to keep us trapped in a never-ending maze. It’s easy to let these bad days take a toll on our mood, leaving us feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, or stuck. However, there’s a powerful tool that can help shift our perspective and provide guidance during such challenging times: Tarot.
Transform a Bad Day with Tarot
Tarot cards are a tool to help us gain insights into various aspects of life. They provide a connection to our unconsciousness, allowing us to see our situation with clear eyes which helps us make wise choices. Even on a bad day, Tarot may be a source of comfort, direction, and empowerment when consulted with intention.Step 1: Setting the Intention
The first step in using Tarot to turn a bad day around is to set a clear intention. By clearly stating what you hope to achieve through the Tarot reading, you notify your subconscious that you want to receive guidance and insights aligning with your needs. For example, your intention might be to gain a fresh perspective on your body day, find guidance on how to navigate through it, or simply seek solace and comfort in a healthy, empowering way.
Step 2: Centering and Grounding
Take a moment to ground yourself before diving into a Tarot reading. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and visualize roots growing from your feet, connecting you to the earth. I imagine green and gold energy coming up from the earth, through the building, up my feet and legs until it reaches my head. This calms the mind, releases tension, and creates a receptive state for viewing the Tarot cards. It will also slow down a racing heart and provide a sense of stability and belonging that we lose when a bad day hits.Step 3: Selecting the Tarot Spread
Choose a Tarot spread that resonates with your current state of mind. A simple three-card spread can be effective when you’re feeling overwhelmed or seeking guidance on a specific situation. Alternatively, just draw one card and see where it takes you. If, after reading the card, it feels like you need more insight, draw another card and read it in conjunction with the first.
Step 4: Trusting Your Intuition
As you shuffle the Tarot cards, focus on your intention and trust your intuition to guide you. When a card feels right, stop shuffling and place it face-up. Continue this process until you have completed the chosen spread.Step 5: Interpretation and Reflection
Now it’s time to interpret the cards and reflect on their meanings in the context of your bad day. Pay attention to the symbols, colors, and emotions evoked by each card. Journaling your thoughts and insights deepens your understanding and provides a reference for future reflection.
As I mention in step 3 above, I find that drawing one card, reading it, and thinking about it sometimes results in a new question and a new card. When I read this way, I often journal my thoughts on each card before drawing a new one. At the end, I write a summary or a kind of tl;dr which sums up the reading.
Step 6: Take Inspired Action
Armed with the insights gained from the Tarot reading, it’s time to take inspired action to turn your bad day around. The Tarot acts as a roadmap, highlighting potential paths and offering suggestions on how to navigate your challenges. Trust yourself and the reflection of your subconscious as reflected in the cards to make informed decisions and take steps towards creating a more positive outcome. Remember, Tarot doesn’t do anything, it just provides insight. In order to incur change, you need to take action.Step 7: Gratitude and Release
Express gratitude for the guidance received and release any attachments to the outcome. As the song says, Let It Go. Remember that the Tarot offers guidance, but it’s ultimately up to you to implement the insights into your life. Trust your subconscious and your instincts, and let go of any lingering negativity from the bad day.
A couple of good ways to release the negativity of a bad day include:
- Write down your emotions, or even a story of your bad day. While imagining all of your negative emotions out of your head and on the paper, crumple the paper up, stand up, and throw it away. I like to take it outside and throw it in the dumpster if I’m at work. Just get it as far away as possible. If at home, I’ll walk to a nearby park and throw it away there.
- Meditate and visualize the negativity as a dark fog that you are blowing away.
- If you live near the beach or running water, take a stone, project all of your anger and frustration into it, and then throw it as hard as you can into the ocean, river, or lake.
Conclusion
While a bad day is an inevitable part of life, it doesn’t have to define our overall experience. By incorporating Tarot into our daily practice, we can tap into a wellspring of wisdom and guidance that helps us navigate through difficult moments with greater clarity and resilience. Tarot cards serve as a powerful tool for self-reflection, providing insights and perspectives that may otherwise remain hidden.
Using Tarot when you’re having a bad day allows you to step out of the immediate chaos and gain a broader perspective. It helps you recognize patterns, explore underlying emotions, and find solutions that align with your highest good. By setting a clear intention, grounding yourself, selecting an appropriate spread, trusting your intuition, and reflecting on the cards’ meanings, you can uncover valuable insights that empower you to take inspired action.
Remember, Tarot is not about predicting the future or relying solely on external forces. It is about connecting with your inner wisdom and accessing the guidance that already resides within you. The cards act as a mirror, reflecting back your own thoughts, feelings, and desires. They encourage you to trust your instincts, make conscious choices, and take responsibility for shaping your own reality.
Incorporating Tarot into your bad day routine can be a transformative practice. It allows you to shift your mindset from victimhood to empowerment, from frustration to clarity, and from stagnation to growth. By embracing the lessons and messages revealed through the Tarot cards, you can navigate the challenges of the day with grace, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose.
So, the next time you find yourself in the midst of a bad day, consider turning to Tarot as a source of guidance and support. Approach your reading with an open heart and mind, and trust that the cards will provide the insights you need. Allow yourself to be vulnerable, to explore your emotions, and to seek solutions that resonate with your inner truth.
