Oddly enough, when I shuffled The Prophet Oracle card deck this card caught my eye. I shuffled it back, shuffled some more, and then cut the cards. This ended up coming up!
“Crime and Punishment
Oftentimes have I heard you speak of one who commits a wrong as though he were not one of you, but a stranger unto you and an intruder upon your world.
But I say that even as the holy and the righteous cannot rise beyond the highest which is in each one of you,
So the wicked and the weak cannot fall lower than the lowest which is in you also.
And as a single leaf turns not yellow, but with the silent knowledge of the whole tree,
So the wrongdoer cannot do wrong without the hidden will of you all.”
This card deserves some deep contemplation time this week. What was your first instinct? Mine was, “umm I’m not sure I believe this”. Then I thought about it. And thought some more. Because The Prophet card isn’t talking about the wrong act itself, it is talking about how we treat the wrongdoer after the act.
I’m feeling a connection here to current events where if you’re not for me you’re against me. The attitude of seeing those who disagree or even just aren’t for you as “other”.
The title of this the Prophet Oracle card says “Like the ocean is your god-self, it remains forever undefiled”.
I may add more to this later this week, or not, as I think about it.
