What meanings does the Page of Wands possess? What does it mean when it appears in a Tarot reading?

Pages are the youngest of the court cards, usually portrayed as a youth. They are usually considered androgynous, though some decks portray the Page as female. In the header image which is from the Heaven and Earth Tarot, the Page is portrayed as a Princess.  Personally, this doesn’t speak to me, as Pages are usually just evolving a sense of self. Princesses seem more empowered than Pages. Pages are exploring their powers, even just learning they have them. They often offer new opportunities, invitations, and/or the push you need to just go for it.

Wands

Wands represent the element of fire. Fire means many things; it can be the spark of inspiration, it can be the passion that keeps us going, and it can be the fire that wipes everything out so we can start fresh.  It also can represent your spiritual self and how you live your spirit through your values.

The Page of Wands

The Page of Wands represents the passion for life that a young child has; the creative imagination to make dragons out of hills and angels out of clouds. Unlike the Page of Pentacles, who wants to know all of the details, or the Page of Swords who wants knowledge for its own sake, this Page wants to use what they learn in the material and spiritual worlds.  The world is just a blank slate for them, ready to be discovered and filled in.

Triple Goddess Tarot

While the Page of Wands loves having fun and seeks it everywhere, they have a hard time settling down to one thing. Their passion doesn’t last long and they move on to something else. They need to have something always going, choices always before them.

This is a card of creativity as well. This is the kind of creativity that takes over your life for a period. I love the Page from the Triple Goddess Tarot because she looks like she got up in her nightgown to keep working on her painting!

Finally, the Page of Wands can also show up when you need to draw back to or focus on your core values. Let the flames of the suit of Wands burn away all the detritus and garbage within you, leaving only what is truly important.
