More accurate or more helpful? Which way should Tarot readings lean? Accuracy is such a tenuous term when applied to Tarot. Tarot readings show a point in time in the stream that is the client’s life. It looks at the streambed which is the likely path of the stream. A reading shows the boulders or obstacles that are blocking the stream. The cards point out areas where the stream could flow better, with fewer encumbrances. With every action the client takes, the stream changes, so perfect accuracy isn’t possible.
A helpful reading gives the client an action they can take. Self-work, footwork, research, whatever the action, it moves the client towards their better self. A reading that is completely accurate could lack these action plans. The client would know where they stand in regards to the question and what the obstacles are, but not necessarily how to address them.
This topic really goes back to my thoughts on predictive Tarot reading. Clients should view Tarot readers as counselors rather than as fortune-tellers and look for the truths inside themself. If the reading is truly helpful, it is going to be fairly accurate. It shouldn’t be used to predict the winner in the 4th at Emerald Downs.
I’ve found that in my own readings, a reading that seems off almost always relates to something deep down I’m trying to ignore. The accuracy, more often than not, is spot on. I suspect it is the same in my clients. There have been a few who have had readings that were somewhat rough. They involved situations where the client was trying to manipulate another person. Their responses to the readings clearly indicated that they were in denial about their own actions.
This would be a great topic for discussion! Has anyone experienced either kind of reading? Do you prefer having a plan of action after a reading?
