The Page of Swords has appeared in nearly every reading I’ve done for the past three weeks, both for myself and for clients. When this happens we refer to it as a “stalker card” and while it is a part of the reading being done, it is also an in-your-face reminder to the reader.
Stalker Cards

The Modern Witch Tarot
Brigit Esselmonthas a wonderful stalker spread meant to explore the meaning of a Tarot card that keeps turning up. It basically has four positions:
- What is the importance of this card in my life right now?
- What do I need to know about this card?
- What is preventing me from getting message?
- How can I release the blockage?
My reading was still unclear to me at the time, although going back I now see it was very clear. The basic message was that I need to persist but take a fresh approach. I need to look at the bigger picture, slow down, and make a new plan. But where? I have two businesses plus a watercolor hobby and then there is just life. Where is this applying?
The Page of Swords
The Page of Swords is all about new ideas or new plans. There might be some new project you are working on, the germ of an idea buzzing in your head, or a new perspective on something you’re already working on.
For me, I just couldn’t get it. Until today.
I get a weekly newsletter that features a card of the week. This week was…the Page of Swords. One line stood out for me, in fact, it sounded like a bell ringing in my ear:
“You’re exploring a new way of thinking – a new idea, a new perspective, new knowledge, or a new technique.“
I feel stalled and somewhat down about my Tarot studies. Several resources are on my desk that I haven’t cracked open yet, but they just don’t light my fire. Instead, books about different areas have been taking up a lot of my time: an introduction to astrology, some African history books, and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). In fact, I bought an audiobook last night that I plan to start today.
Last night I dreamt about having a discussion about NLP with a mentor of mine. Today, for the first time in three weeks, no Page of Swords in my readings.
The Conclusion
My frustration and lack of excitement in my Tarot business and studies was a sign I needed to branch out. Astrology is interesting, but not something I want to pursue. NLP is a skillset that can be used in my Tarot practice. Once the realization hit, I felt a huge release. This is what that darn Page has been pushing me to!
Never ignore stalker cards. If you have a card that keeps coming up for you in readings, ask your reader for a reading about that card. You may have to dig deep and do some inner work, but it will be worth it when you feel that release.
What Clients are Saying about Sophrosyne Tarot
I was advised to ask open-ended questions instead of predictive questions which I thought was helpful because I never would have known if it weren’t for the reader. The reader provided the reading along with some advice too so the entire reading was very thorough and explained in an understandable manner.
Everything said was accurate and helpful for me to identify my flaws in order to grow as a person. I have learned a lot about tarot and what it does to help me.
