“Know Your Fears” is the oracle card I pulled today with the question “What do we all need to know for today”. This gorgeous card comes from the Messenger Oracle and today is the first time drawing from this deck.
Oracle cards differ from Tarot cards by not having suits or Major/Minor Arcana. Instead, each has an image and some text. I use them when I’m stuck, need confirmation of a Tarot reading, and for meditation. They come with a booklet that explains the card, but interpreting it is up to you!
Know Your Fears
The text for Know Your Fears is as follows:
You have fears both big and small. Some fear is felt for a good reason; it serves to remind you to be cautious and not take foolish and dangerous risks. Other fears you feel are but shadows that you have made real and given substance. They serve only to make you doubt yourself, to question your good judgement, to fear success, to restrict, and to limit. Look within. Know your fears. Shine a light upon them and see them for the shadows and mist that they are.
Confront Your Fears
Confronting your fears doesn’t necessarily mean going out and forcing yourself to do it anyway. I’m afraid of heights and I’m not going to confront that fear by going bungee jumping! Instead, drill down into your fears. Where do they come from? What is the source? This is going to be different for everyone.
After 9/11 my mental health wasn’t good and I developed agoraphobia which is the fear of open spaces. For me, it manifested as being terrified to leave my condo, or when I did go out, being terrified of new places. This was a fear that seriously affected my life and business. I literally cried in the parking lot of a movie theater that I’d never been to before because I was too afraid to go in.
Luckily I was able to get past this fear through the use of self-talk and medication. The medication seemed to sever the spiraling thoughts that created panic, helping me step back mentally and examine those fears calmly. I could then talk myself through going out to new places by paying attention to what was really going on outside of me, instead of imagining horrors about to occur.
Examine Your Fears
The next time you experience fear try to examine those fears. Label them for what they are. Is it really a lack of confidence? Maybe fears of failure? I’m talking about fears not based on what is really happening. If you are walking down a dark street and hear footsteps, fear is an ally!
What Clients are Saying about Sophrosyne Tarot
I was advised to ask open-ended questions instead of predictive questions which I thought was helpful because I never would have known if it weren’t for the reader. The reader provided the reading along with some advice too so the entire reading was very thorough and explained in an understandable manner.
Everything said was accurate and helpful for me to identify my flaws in order to grow as a person. I have learned a lot about tarot and what it does to help me.
Fear is definitely something that can hold us back in life. For me, it’s usually a lack of confidence that keeps me from doing something. I’ll worry about whether or not I’m good enough or if I’ll be able to do it right. Sometimes it’s hard to push through that fear, but it’s definitely worth it in the end. I found that I was able to use self talk to get past my fears. I would talk myself through the situation and remind myself that I could handle it. This helped me to stay calm and be able to focus on what was really happening.
Of course this card comes up, I just did a blog yesterday on how to combat fear wit GRACE! This message showing up means I still have some work to do. Thank you for sharing. Sending lots of love. Jaime
Funny how that works!
