Email tarot readings are very common, especially since the arrival of the pandemic. But does a reading where you aren’t in the reader’s personal space really work? How does a reader connect with a person who may be across the world?
How Email Tarot Readings Begin
Every reader works differently, so this reflects my own experience. Currently, all of my readings are by email and I never meet or talk to my clients either in person, by phone, or Zoom. Clients contact me through my scheduling app or by email. Background information is usually pretty brief and usually a topic for the question is suggested, but I prefer to work with a question so I work with the client to create a question that will work well with a Tarot reading.
Once the question is crafted I spend some time creating a custom spread based on the question. Finally, I choose a deck and clear my mind with light meditation. I imagine the client sitting before me, concentrating on their energy and the question. At some point it just feels “right” and I begin to shuffle the deck and then lay out the spread.
Crafting the Reading
I have a standard Tarot reading template on my computer. The template walks me through the reading and ensures I don’t forget anything. I photograph the spread and then spend a few minutes just looking at the cards, examining the interplay between the cards. At this point sometimes some questions may be raised by the spread and I might contact the client if I feel it will change the tenor of my reading.
An example of this was a relationship reading where the cards suggested the couple were currently separated. The question implied that they lived together, but the client confirmed that it was a long-distance relationship. This clarified the reading because some of the cards could be read differently if the couple was actually living together.
I like to do a brief description of each card, using keywords that fit the reading. This just gives the client a base knowledge of what each card means. Next, I do the actual reading, using my intuition to read cards separately and together according to their positions.
Intuition – What Does That Mean?
When looking at the cards with the client’s question in mind, the position the card falls in the spread, and in a semi-meditative state, meanings and symbols jump out at me. They feel important to the reading. Sometimes words or phrases may come to me. Other times a symbol may gain focus. As the reading is put together I can feel when something is correct or if I’m off track.
Side note: I don’t consider myself “psychic” but once, during a reading for an actual psychic medium, I got flashes of pictures. It was extremely shocking and freaked me out a bit, but it turned out they were accurate.
Intuition is the key in the reading. Sometimes my intuition will interpret a card outside of its usual meanings. The feeling of rightness helps me link the cards to the question and the client.
Presentation
Writing up the presentation takes about half an hour. I focus on the words I use to convey the reading as clearly as possible to the client. After the main reading, I do a summary to make sure I clearly answered the question. This summary is where I’ll highlight action items which are actions the client can take to achieve (or avoid) the path they seem to be on.
The research about affirmations and how they can actually change your brain inspired me to include a customized affirmation with my reading. When used by the client, along with any action items in the reading, affirmations help boost the likelihood of a positive outcome for the client.
Finally, the client receives an email with the reading as well as a PDF copy of the reading that they can download or print out.
But Do Email Tarot Readings Work?
They really do. Here are some client testimonials:
“You completely gave me the information and insight needed to take action and move forward. And I’d like you to know that I personally had a very shallow insight into my question. This reading totally uprooted the deep issue I had trouble recognizing myself. The amount of time and thought that went into this reading was evident.” ~C., Australia
“[You] gave clear insight for both ways of moving forward. Most, if not all insights were correct. Excellent perception and brilliant insight I think, along with advice for both directions. Didn’t tell me which way to go but did give advice for both, which was helpful and practical. Can’t fault any of the reading. This has been the best and closest to me I have had. Thank you so much.” ~ YS, UK
“Everything said was accurate and helpful for me to identify my flaws in order to grow as a person. I have learned a lot about tarot and what it does to help me.” ~ CD., Malaysia
