When you receive a Tarot reading, who is the message from the divine or the reader? I think it is either both or neither.

Psychology and Quantum Physics

There is interesting research about the existence of collective consciousness, which is a framework that is shared by families, groups, and societies. Parallel to this is the collective unconsciousness, put forth by Dr. Carl Jung. The concept has many facets, but in its simplest form, it suggests we inherit “innate dispositions to experience and represent basic human behavior and specific situations”. citation To state it plainly, all humans share memories and knowledge at the deepest level.

Quantum physics is even now discovering the strange and fascinating “connections” between disparate particles. It is a matter of time before we find out how we are all connected at some level, not just through our genetic collective unconscious, but in a very real sense.

This is all still pretty hazy in my own mind.  I am no scientist or psychologist, but I believe quantum physics and the collective unconscious are starting to explain some interesting events and synchronicities that occur in our lives.

Connections

Ever think of a person only to have them call you at that instant? This is the kind of connection between people that the Tarot cards help us access. The shared a collective unconscious and quantum connection means that I can connect to a client through their question and feel the right answer to give them.

There is a big caveat though. The information I “feel” is filtered through my own perceptions, experiences, and thoughts. I try to be as objective as possible, but that is always going to happen. This is enhanced when the question is fuzzy or imprecise. That is why a reader needs a very concise question. The clearer the question, the clearer the answer, and the less filtering that takes place.

Divine or Reader?

Everyone has their own vision of the divine. My vision will not match that of my client, but both have something to do with our quantum connection. Is there a separate divine being with whom we also share this connection? I have no idea, and to me, it doesn’t matter. What I do know is that I get a feeling when I’m interpreting the cards. That feeling is what I communicate to my clients. Most of the time they tell me I am correct or that the reading resonates with them.

So am I interpreting a message from a divine being? Or am I making something up in my head? Neither. Or perhaps both. In the end, I don’t think it matters where the message is coming from so long as it helps the client achieve their best self.
