tired and unmotivatedLike a lot of you, I’ve been feeling tired and unmotivated lately, without the drive to pursue my passions. Life’s journey can sometimes leave us feeling drained and detached from our ambitions. In times like these, Tarot can serve as a guiding light, providing profound insights into the root causes of our feelings and offering solutions to rejuvenate our spirits.

Understanding the Question

When asking the Tarot for guidance, it’s essential to clearly understand the question at hand. My question was “I’ve been feeling tired and unmotivated lately. Can you tell me why and how to overcome this”. I fell back on my usual three card reading and the cards drawn are: the Nine of Cups, Five of Pentacles, and Temperance. Each card carries a unique message that, when combined, will illuminate the path to overcoming feeling tired and unmotivated.

Card 1: Nine of Cups – The Fulfillment of Desires

Nine of Cups

Modern Witch Tarot

The Nine of Cups symbolizes contentment and satisfaction, reflecting your accomplishments and wishes fulfilled. It suggests that on some level, you have achieved what you set out to accomplish. However, I’m not finished yet and this card also points to a sense of complacency that may have crept in, leading to the stagnation of my motivation. To use a racing metaphor, I haven’t finished the race and I’m just coasting, assuming I’ll make it over the line.

I see this pretty clearly in my life. We’ve made some financial decisions which have left us in a really good position and without the fear of being able to pay bills, I’ve slacked off a bit on work.

Card 2: Five of Pentacles – Overcoming Challenges

Five of Pentacles

Modern Witch Tarot

The Five of Pentacles signifies adversity and financial hardship. This card indicates that I have encountered obstacles that left me feeling drained, physically and emotionally. It’s possible that I am struggling with a sense of loss or experiencing a period of self-doubt, contributing to feeling tired and unmotivated.

Well, I almost always struggle with self-doubt, so this is  a no-brainer. While financially I’m in a good place, there are some other issues on which I need to keep a sharp eye. These are issues where my significant other and I don’t see eye-to-eye about, so there are some emotional issues going on while we figure things out.

Card 3: Temperance – Finding Balance

Temperance

Modern Witch Tarot

Temperance is a card of balance and harmony. It encourages me to seek a middle ground between extremes and to integrate the various aspects of my life. This card suggests that my current state of weariness may stem from an imbalance in how I manage my time and energy. I also feel that I may need to reinterpret my feelings of being tired and unmotivated as a warning to slow down, take some time for myself, and decide where to refocus my efforts.

Interpreting the Tarot Reading

The Tarot reading reveals that my feelings of being tired and unmotivated are interconnected. The Nine of Cups indicates that I may have achieved certain goals but have become too comfortable in your achievements, leading to a lack of new ambitions. At the same time, the Five of Pentacles shows that I’m facing challenges that are taking a toll on my energy and spirit. These difficulties contribute to feelings of inadequacy or fear, leading me to feel tired and unmotivated.

However, the Temperance card reminds me that there is a way forward. I’m encouraged to rebalance my life and make time for self-care and reflection. Are the things I’m stressing about really worth all that energy? By acknowledging and addressing the challenges I face, and putting them in their proper context, I can regain energy and motivation

How to Overcome Feeling Tired and Unmotivated

MeditationI always like to create action items for my Tarot clients, so I’m doing the same for myself. These are all small actions I can take to incrementally improve.

  1. Self-Reflection and Gratitude: Take time to reflect on my accomplishments and express gratitude for what I have achieved so far. Celebrating successes can reignite my passion for future projects.
  2. Address Challenges Head-On: Identify the challenges I’m facing and work on strategies to overcome them. Seek support from loved ones or professionals if needed.  This is all about facing my fears which will help release the burden on my energy.
  3. Practice Mindfulness and Moderation: Embrace the essence of Temperance by adopting a mindful approach to life. Balance work, rest, and play to prevent burnout and promote overall well-being.
  4. Make Small Changes: I don’t need to make huge goals or upend what I’m currently doing. Instead I can make small changes, see if they work, and then make more changes. One small change will be taking the time for my gratitude journal in the morning.
  5. Physical Activity and Nutrition: Incorporate regular exercise and a balanced diet into my routine. Physical well-being plays a significant role in maintaining mental and emotional vitality and I’ve been slipping on this. Even 10 minutes on the treadmill (it’s hot out) a couple of times a day will help.
  6. Tarot Meditation: Use Tarot cards as a tool for introspection. Take a few moments each day to meditate on the cards drawn, gaining deeper insights into my situation and the steps to take.

The journey to renewed motivation takes time, perseverance, and patience. Tarot isn’t an instant cure-all; you still have to put in the work. However, by making small changes I can see what works, keep moving forward, and hopefully eliminate this period of feeling tired and unmotivated.

What Clients are Saying about Sophrosyne Tarot

I was advised to ask open-ended questions instead of predictive questions which I thought was helpful because I never would have known if it weren’t for the reader. The reader provided the reading along with some advice too so the entire reading was very thorough and explained in an understandable manner.

Everything said was accurate and helpful for me to identify my flaws in order to grow as a person. I have learned a lot about tarot and what it does to help me.
